  • Overview

    The Communications Team performs internal and external communication functions in support of the Infrastructure Security Compliance Division (ISCD) and the Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards (CFATS) program. We are responsible for creating digital and physical content that is both clear and effective in portraying the ISCD mission. Internal program content is designed to support the headquarters and field staff in best executing their duties and providing the Division with consistent program updates. Internal communications serves as vital part of our program to ensure all ISCD staff is up to date and our public facing staff can accurately communicate our mission to the public and our stakeholders.

    Responsibilities

    Internal communication plays a large role in keeping our leadership well-informed of relevant stakeholder, media, and government updates. The Communications Team organizes senior leadership briefings for upcoming events, meetings, and conferences. We conduct research to provide industry backgrounders, guidance documents, talking points, and other industry outreach efforts. In order to better inform the public and our stakeholders, we create external communication content including presentations, program fact sheets, industry fact sheets, event materials, and digital content for our website and knowledge center. The Communications Team handles incoming media inquiries, including the preparation of program information releases. We also work to execute the media outreach efforts of the Division by creating content for publication submissions and researching media outreach opportunities for our program.

    • Composing and editing internal, media, and external executive communications
    • Writing, designing, and editing external executive communications (PowerPoint presentations, briefs, and talking points), fact sheets, web content, blogs, invitations, agendas, conference reports, and/or Congressional briefings.
    • Creditable experience shall also include prepping and briefing senior leadership formedia interviews, writing or providing input to external newsletters and tradepublications, preparing statements for the record and background for reporters inresponse to media inquiries
    • Researching and preparing background on media and trade publications.

    Qualifications

    • 4-year Bachelor's degree from an accredited university 
    • 5 years of experience working in a professional office environment as a communications specialist.
    • DHS Suitability PREFERRED
