    PotomacWave Consulting is seeking a creative, forward-thinking and organized communications / social media specialist to join our team. You must be able to create consistent, meaningful content on all social media platforms and support a wide range of internal and external communications tasks.


    This position requires an understanding of social media trends in the digital space, the capacity to strategically coordinate and execute multiple project, the organizational skills to report on communications and social media metrics and insights and the proactive ability to manage internal marketing initiatives that promote the division mission.



    • Write copy, create social posts, coordinate (with multiple teams) and execute multiple social media campaigns for a variety of projects simultaneously.
    • Create, promote and optimize media based on client KPI’s.
    • Ensure deliverables are optimized for each platform
    • Ensure local social media campaign content adheres to social media guidelines and best practices.
    • Track, interpret, and report on metrics for multiple campaigns. Oversee reporting for national and local campaigns.
    • Ensure local social media promotion is being executed successfully and performance is communicated with internal stakeholders.
    • Help benchmark and research competitors and industry leaders in branded content social media
    • Help create social media training and overview documents as needed (FAQ docs, newsletter, best practices, etc.) for trainings, presentations and overviews.
    • Build and execute social media strategy through research, benchmarking, messaging, and audience identification
    • Write, develop, and strategize online content production and scheduling
    • Generate, edit, publish, and share content daily (original text, images, video, and HTML)
    • Build meaningful connections and encourage community members through dialog and messaging
    • Create and maintain division social media pages and profiles
    • Work directly with client teams planning and conceiving social content
    • Run, maintain and provide recommendations on the latest and greatest social listening platforms and be able to analyze, measure and report on engagement with social programs, tracking weekly and monthly performance to make recommendations based on results
    • Develop and execute creative ways to translate analysis and policy recommendations into compelling storylines, including through multimedia online content, such as videos, photos, and infographics


    • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, or related field
    • 3-5 years of communications experience along with an agency background in integrated marketing, public relations, advertising or digital communications.
    • Familiarity with FEMA and/or other Government agencies communications and social media
    • Proven work experience as a social media strategist or social media manager
    • Strong familiarity with the business applications of social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.)
    • Knowledge of project management and web design best practices
    • Understanding of social media metrics; able to interpret the results and take action to increase effectiveness of social media campaigns
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as organizational and interpersonal skills
    • Highly organized and adept at managing multiple projects and clients simultaneously at a high standard in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
    • Demonstrated knowledge of social media trends, sharing new tactics and ideas with clients and internal teams
    • Ability to think creatively and collaboratively about all elements of communications work
    • Adaptable to rapidly changing priorities and able to manage multiple deadlines and deliver high quality work products
